As Pennsylvania's just land-grant university, Penn Point out includes a broad mission of coaching, research, and public provider. But that mission had not been so conceived in 1855, when the Commonwealth chartered it among the nation's first schools of agricultural research, with a goal to use scientific concepts to farming.
